Ashoka left behind the first written language in India since the ancient city of Harrapa. The language was the current language spoken in the kind of form called Sanserit.
A story was found in the form of sculpted pillars and boulders with actions and teachings of what Ashoka Mauryan wished to publish into a stone. Those who discovered or found the objects believe Ashoka was clever because no one else had found such an idea as he did.
The writing system was important to The Mauryan Empire because that was their way in which they all communicated with one another and because that was the language they all inherited every time the groups of people known as Aryans would move in (1500 B.C.E).
